Premier League Betting Tips

The Premier League returns this weekend after the international break, and there are many games with importance at both the top and bottom of the league. Teams have just a few games to go, and we are now at the serious end of the season, so expect to see a lot of teams giving it their all in an attempt to climb the table, and help out their cause.

At the top of the table, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all in a battle for 2nd place right now. Manchester United and Liverpool both have relatively easy looking games they are expected to win, while Tottenham have a tough trip to 5th placed Chelsea, who are themselves looking to chase Tottenham down and get back into the top four.

At the bottom of the table, five points separate seven teams, from Newcastle in 13th to Stoke in 19th. It looks like West Brom will be relegated, and from those seven teams above, two will go down and five will stay up. That is going to be just as interesting as the top of the table over the coming weeks, and there are some huge points up for grabs this weekend.

What Games are on TV?

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool – Saturday 12:30, Sky Sports

Crystal Palace and Liverpool are both desperate for these three points for very different reasons. Liverpool continue to chase down Manchester United in 2nd place, and with them playing first this weekend, Liverpool could overtake them for a short while. Manchester United have a winnable game themselves and Liverpool can’t afford a slip up here, otherwise United could take advantage when they play.

After a terrible start to the season, Crystal Palace fought out of the relegation zone but now find themselves falling back in. After four losses from their last five, they are now just two points ahead of the drop zone, anything they can get from this game will really help their chances.

This is a hugely important game for both teams, but Liverpool are the far better team here and they are in good form right now, so they can take the important three points.

Everton vs Manchester City – Saturday 17:30, BT Sport

Manchester City look sure to lift the league title this season, and it now looks to be a case of when they win the league, not if. They are showing no signs of slowing down and look like they want to win the title as soon as they possibly can. They have been exceptional to watch, fully deserve the title and look to be far too strong for the majority of the Premier League, including Everton.

Everton started life poorly this season, and for a few different reasons, they really struggled to get going. However, they have since got going and will be looking to cement their position in the top half of the table by finishing well.

Everton look in much better shape than at the start of the season, but they don’t look good enough to be able to beat Manchester City, who look far too strong and they can win this. That will take them another step closer to the league title they deserve.

Arsenal vs Stoke – Sunday 13:30, Sky Sports

It hasn’t been the best season so far for Arsenal, with many question marks hanging over Arsene Wenger. They will be glad to get over this season, and a disappointing 6th placed finish looks to be on the cards for them. It looks increasingly likely that Arsene Wenger will leave this summer, so he will be looking to end the season as well as possible, games like this they are more than capable of winning.

Stoke are really struggling right now, and they are in the relegation zone. They are three points off safety, with just seven games to go. They have not won in their last five games and although this looks to be an incredibly tough task, they really need to start picking points up from somewhere, otherwise, the Championship looms for them.

This game is far more important for Stoke than Arsenal, but Stoke simple don’t have the quality to compete with Arsenal, and this can be a comfortable home victory for the London club.

Chelsea vs Tottenham – Sunday 16:00, Sky Sports

This is the big game of the weekend, with 4th placed Tottenham going up against 5th placed Chelsea. Spurs are holding onto the last top four spot right now, but have a comfortable five-point gap over Chelsea, and will be looking ahead of them rather than below. They are four points off Manchester United, who are in 2nd place, and their aim for the rest of this season will be to try and catch them.

After winning the league last season, Chelsea will be hugely disappointed to be currently outside of the top four. They have simply not been good enough this season, especially in recent weeks where they have lost three of their last five games. The top four is everything in the Premier League, and Chelsea looks set to miss out unless they can come up with something big to end the season.

A start to that would be to win this game and close the gap to Tottenham, something they simply have to do. However, they have been in poor form recently, while Tottenham have been on a good run, and have won their last four.

Spurs have to do this without Harry Kane, but they have a squad full of talented attacking players, and they have the ability to go to Stamford Bridge and pick up what would be a hugely important three points for them.

Betting Odds

This weekend there are four top teams who are all short-priced favourites to win their games. These four are going to make a very popular fourfold for punters or could be the main part of many accumulators that are placed. Should all four win, this has the potential to be a very good weekend for punters.

Liverpool kick things off at 8/15 before Manchester United play and they are priced up at 1/4. Manchester City are the evening kick-off at 2/5 before Arsenal round the four favourites off on Sunday, and they are priced up at 3/10.

In the big game on Sunday, there is little to split Chelsea and Tottenham in the betting, Chelsea are priced up at 7/5, while Tottenham are 9/4 slight outsiders. Many people will see both of those teams as value, in what is a very big game for both teams in their race for a top-four spot.

With some big games at both the top and bottom of the league, some short-priced favourites and a great game to look forward to on Sunday, there are many betting opportunities this weekend.
